Role Overview:

We are looking for a Staff Software Engineer to lead the architecture and development of our agentic AI platform, used to model, automate, and optimize workflows in the energy sector.

You’ll work directly with the CTO, CEO, and U.S. based leadership, and mentor engineers in both Palo Alto and our Bangalore engineering team. You will be responsible for building platform components that integrate LLM-powered agents, real-time data retrieval, and domain-specific tooling—delivered securely to large enterprise customers across cloud (AWS/Azure) and VPC deployments.

This is a highly strategic and technical role focused on scaling platform infrastructure, improving reliability, and extending the capabilities of agentic systems tailored to energy workflows.

Responsibilities:

• Architect and build scalable backend systems that power LLM agents for reasoning, retrieval, and guided task execution
• Design services and APIs that orchestrate agentic workflows, memory, and tool usage across real-world industrial applications
• Lead development of infrastructure that supports multi-tenant deployments in both public cloud and enterprise VPC environments
• Drive observability, security, and platform performance across deployments
• Collaborate closely with scientists, product, and engineering leaders to align system design with product vision
• Mentor backend, infra, and platform engineers across U.S. and India teams
• Contribute to long-term architectural direction and technical decision-making
• Help evolve the platform to support real-time, autonomous AI workflows for industrial users

Qualifications:

• 8+ years of backend or infrastructure engineering experience; 2+ years in a staff/principal role
• Deep understanding of distributed systems, service architecture, and container orchestration (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)
• Strong engineering skills in Python and modern service frameworks (FastAPI, gRPC, etc.)
• Experience designing secure, high-availability infrastructure for enterprise-grade applications
• Familiarity with LLM-powered systems, including retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), tool use, and multi-agent coordination
• Experience working across global teams and mentoring engineers
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field

Desirable Skills:

• Exposure to agent orchestration frameworks (e.g., LangGraph, CrewAI)
• Knowledge of inference optimization tools like vLLM, Triton, TorchScript, or ONNX
• Experience deploying and managing AI systems in energy, utilities, or industrial automation settings
• Open-source contributions to infrastructure, ML, or LLM tooling
