We are building the next-generation agentic platform for heavy industries, starting with the Energy sector—enabling intelligent systems that reason, retrieve, and act across complex workflows spanning the field, office, and control center.

Role Overview:

We’re hiring a Head of AI to lead the development of the core intelligence layer behind Bolo’s agentic platform. You’ll be responsible for the design, architecture, and continuous evolution of our LLM-powered systems—from prompt orchestration and tool use to memory and multimodal reasoning.

This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll define the technical direction for AI at Bolo, while collaborating closely with our CTO, Head of Engineering, and Product team. You'll set the foundation for how agents operate, learn, and improve in live industrial environments. As one of our most critical early hires, you’ll have the opportunity to shape not just our technology, but our AI culture and roadmap as we scale.

Note: This role is expected to be based in the Bay Area, with at least 3 days per week in our Palo Alto office.

What You’ll Own:

• Architect and build LLM-powered agentic workflows for heavy industry
• Integrate multimodal inputs—text, documents, images, audio—into reasoning flows using APIs like GPT-4o, Claude 3.5, Gemini 2.0, and/or Whisper
• Design robust retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) pipelines for real-world data
• Implement structured planning, orchestration, and feedback loops across agent systems
• Define evaluation frameworks for robustness, speed, and quality of agent behavior
• Partner with Engineering to deliver AI capabilities into secure, scalable enterprise environments

Qualifications:

• Have 7+ years of experience in AI/ML engineering or applied research
• Have built and shipped LLM-native or agentic systems involving prompt chaining, tool use, and context handling
• Are fluent in Python, with experience using LangChain, Hugging Face, LlamaIndex, or similar open-source stacks
• Have worked with or understand vector stores, memory architectures, and agent evaluation techniques
• Are excited to work across multimodal inputs and design agents that adapt to complex domains
• Bonus: Experience with LangGraph, CrewAI, Autogen, MCP or other agent orchestration frameworks
• Bonus: Exposure to MLOps, private inference, or hybrid deployment environments
