What you will do
As the Operations Assistant at For Them, you'll be the organizational powerhouse that helps keep our wheels turning smoothly! You'll provide stellar customer service using Zendesk, physically support with product returns a few times a month, and help bring our exciting new products to life by prepping materials, packaging, tagging, creating barcodes, and coordinating shipping. You'll also assist with our social media presence, scheduling and organizing content using Later app to ensure our online community stays engaged and informed. Your best days are when you're simultaneously juggling research for our monthly book lists and lesbian bar directory, while efficiently handling admin tasks to keep the office running seamlessly. To thrive in this role, you'll be detail-oriented and adaptable! You work collaboratively and can effectively prioritize tasks. You get s*** done and take pride in your work. You're resourceful and reliable, always one step ahead and anticipating needs. You understand how to balance multiple responsibilities while maintaining quality in all you do. You can take direction and provide valuable support to the CEO on administrative tasks and ad-hoc projects, becoming an indispensable part of the team.
Your ideal experience
You've likely been:
A customer service champion who's made people feel heard and valued (Zendesk experience? Even better!)
Someone who's thrived in the organized chaos of e-commerce or retail operations
A social media savvy human who knows their way around content scheduling (Later app experience is a major plus)
A research wizard who can find exactly what's needed without breaking a sweat
The go-to organizer within a startup or small business where flexibility was your middle name
An admin superhero who's juggled calendars, emails, and office needs while making it look easy
Experience within the queer community or LGBTQ+ spaces? That's the cherry on top! What matters most is your ability to roll with the punches, anticipate needs before they arise, and bring your full authentic self to supporting our mission.
Structure
NYC (in-person)
Part-time with set hours (to be negotiated)
Salary: Starting at $25+ per hour
