SOCIAL MEDIA MANAGER (full-time)
For Them is a queer-owned product and membership brand creating everyday essentials and community-building resources for LGBTQ+ folks (and our allies). Founded in 2021, we produce both utility products designed with real lives and bodies in mind, as well as fun queer goods for anyone to enjoy. Our membership program connects customers with discounts and exclusive access to a network of queer and trans small businesses, building economic solidarity within our community.
In 2023, we acquired Autostraddle, the beloved online publication founded in 2010 that's been covering queer pop culture, personal essays, film and TV reviews, celebrity interviews, and history for over a decade. In August 2025, we launched Autostraddle's first print magazine to overwhelming response. With a team of under 10 people, we're your favorite queer celebrity's favorite queer company—and we're just getting started.

The Role:
You'll be responsible for the day-to-day management of our social media presence across Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, Threads, X, and Bluesky. This includes writing social copy that sounds like us and our audience (we are one in the same), developing and pitching content concepts, scheduling posts and managing the content calendar, coordinating with content creators, and engaging with our community through comments and DMs. You'll also handle basic video editing and help manage our TikTok Shop presence. This role will also manage our inbound customer service inquiries. This role reports to our Marketing Manager.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
Social media experience, whether for a brand, building a strong personal presence or having a finger on the pulse of what is happening right now online
You're a confident copywriter who understands how to adapt voice and tone across platforms
You're organized, process-driven, and can manage multiple content streams without losing track of what's scheduled where
You care about engaging authentically with community, not just posting and ghosting.
The Perfect Candidate Will Have:
1+ years of social media management experience
Experience with tools like Later.com, Hootsuite, Figma, Zendesk, or Airtable
Familiarity with TikTok Shop and influencer campaign management
Comfort being on camera or creating content yourself
A background in product marketing or brand social media management is a plus, but not required.

Exercise 1: Instagram Captions
Write captions for the following three posts. Each caption should be 1-3 sentences and include relevant hashtags where appropriate.

Exercise 2: On-Screen Text
Write on-screen text for a 15-second TikTok video showing someone unboxing their very first For Them order. The video shows them opening the box, discovering what’s inside, holding the product in-hand, and trying it on. What text appears on screen to make this engaging?
Exercise 3: Content Pitch
Pitch 1-3 original content concepts for For Them's TikTok page. Include:
The concept/hook
What the video shows
What the video says
Additional features (brand-safe sound/music, hashtags, etc.)
Why this would perform well for our brand
Exercise 4: Weekly Content Plan
Create a “mock” content schedule for one week across For Them Instagram and TikTok. What does a successful, engaging week on social media look like? What different content types and formats should be used, and how often?
